Ultimately, you are left with a sense of bewilderment. You start ruminating about the purpose of it all. Was this a joke?
Or were we just living in a simulation gone wrong?

The tsunami struck without warning, ravaging entire towns in its sweep. Buildings shattered like house of cards, and the chaos that erupted was deafening. Thousands were buried beneath rubble, their fate precarious. The scale of the disaster was unprecedented, rendering survivors to face a future forever altered.

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a case of morning hair. I couldn't do it to look right. As I was dashing out the door, I stumbled and spilled all over the floor. To make matters worse, I was extremely late for a very important appointment.
I flustered. My {boss|friend|was absolutely furious. I managed to explain, but it was a complete disaster.

By the time I reached my destination, I was exhausted. This day, this atrocious day will be forever remembered as the worst day ever.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
